"God’s people always have faced this opposition, brokenness and wickedness of our world again and again and again."
Have you ever felt like you were swimming against the current in life? Daniel's story offers a powerful reminder that even in the darkest times, God is in control. When Babylon conquered Jerusalem, Daniel faced political, religious, cultural, and identity defeats. Yet, Daniel remained faithful and excelled, not by fighting or fleeing, but by trusting in God's plan and being a faithful presence.
Daniel and his friends were taken from their homeland, renamed, and reeducated in a foreign culture. Despite this, Daniel resolved not to defile himself with the royal food, showing that he would stand firm in his faith. His polite request to the officials and subsequent ten-day test revealed his commitment to God, resulting in God granting him favor and wisdom.
Daniel’s story teaches us not to be surprised by the challenges we face. Instead, we should remember that God reigns over both the big and small aspects of our lives. By maintaining a faithful presence, we can be a light in a dark world. Whether it’s through our work, relationships, or everyday actions, we can trust that God will use us to make a difference.
